Artist Statement / About my UNDERWATER series
My "Underwater" series is not about the swimmers (as one might think)
instead the swimmers create a context for the real focus of each piece - Light, colour and design.
It is the refraction and reflection of light & colour that fascinates me the most. In the "Underwater" setting light bounces, shifts and moves in multiple directions simultaneously. These natural formations invite a multitude of powerful design opportunities. I use fluid brushstrokes that mirror the movements of the swimmer . I also incorporate a rhythmic design to elevate the refraction and reflection of light & colour.
