Sunday September 8 - 2019

This is a one day workshop and will be held at my summer studio in Osgoode Village. Address will accompany registration confirmation. All materials included

Plein air is a French expression for

“in the open air”

In this course I will be providing you with all of the information needed to get started painting outdoors.

I am going to show you an approach to painting on site similar to the painting styles of the Group of Seven. All of the materials will be supplied so that you can really get a feel for the medium before investing money in your own supplies.

In this course you will also learn what kind equipment and materials to use while painting outdoors. I will also discuss and demonstrate how to choose a subject and compose a scene.

I will demonstrate a quick block-in to capture light and shadow and how to create a tonal value study prior to adding colour. Colour basics will also be discussed.

I have two different dates available for this one day workshop. Both workshops will be the same.

A "Plein Air Painting – Acrylics for Beginners" is also available on the same weekends.

Have you ever seen painters outdoors, painting on a lovely afternoon and said to yourself … “one day I am going to do that”?
Well, now is the time to make that happen.

Bring a lunch - we will take a break for a half an hour to eat.  Depending on the weather, it is a good idea to bring a hat for the sun. I do have a lot of areas that are covered but a hat and sunscreen are always a good idea.
If it rains - light rain is part of the plain air experience. So bring rain wear and proper foot wear.   If it's a massive down pour we will cover the technical aspects at the studio and hope for clearing. If not other arrangements will be made.

Also remember as far as clothing goes... all paint can be very messy and stain clothes. Make sure all of your clothes are older and can get painty.
